Resin (white) Fillings

A composite filling is a mixture of plastic and glass that can be made to match the color of your tooth. Composites are also used for cosmetic improvements by reshaping chipped or disfigured teeth. Dr. Colton will first prepare the tooth, and then add the composite in layers, using a light specialized to harden the filling. He will then shape the composite to fit the tooth, and then polish it to prevent staining and early wear.

Porcelain Fillings

Porcelain is a non-crystalline glass composed of silicon and oxygen. A porcelain filling is sometimes used for a filling called an inlay. It is highly aesthetic and very reliable and strong.

Crowns

A crown can help strengthen a tooth with a large filling when there isn’t enough tooth remaining to hold the filling. Crowns can also be used to attach bridges, protect a weak tooth from breaking or restore one that’s already broken. A crown is a good way to cover teeth that are discolored or badly shaped. It’s also used to cover a dental implant.

Bridges

A dental bridge is a fixed removable appliance used to fill the gap created by one or more missing teeth. Gaps left by missing teeth eventually cause the remaining teeth to rotate or shift into the empty space, resulting in a bad bite. A bridge is made up of two or more crowns for the teeth on either side of the gap, with a replacement tooth in the middle to fill the gap.
